3M CUNO High Flow Filter Cartridge Replacement (PHFM Series)
The body is 6.5″ (165 mm), not the 6″ used by most other high flow families. That detail is the whole reason this is a separate product. A 6″ element will go into a CUNO housing and will not seal against it correctly, and the result is a bypass that never presents as a leak — it presents as a downstream particle count nobody can explain.
The PHFM is a dimensional equivalent in the correct format: 40″ and 60″ lengths, 88 to 176 GPM per element, grades from 1 to 100 µm, in polypropylene, organic fibre or glass fibre.

High flow cartridge families are not dimensionally interchangeable, and the difference is small enough to be missed at goods-in.

Half an inch of diameter is invisible on a pallet and decisive in a housing. An undersized element seats, the lid closes, the system runs, and a proportion of the flow goes around the element rather than through it. Nothing alarms. The only symptom is filtration performance that never matches the specification.
If a previous replacement underperformed for no apparent reason, this is the first thing worth checking.
Three media, covering the range from ordinary water duty to hot process streams.
- PP — deep pleated or melt polypropylene. The general-purpose choice, rated to 82 °C.
- FO — organic fibre, for higher dirt-holding capacity on heavily loaded streams.
- GF — glass fibre and polyester, rated to 121 °C for elevated temperature duty.
Grades run 1 to 100 µm across the range, and seals are Silicone, NBR, Viton or EPDM.
Different manufacturers' housings accept different core and adaptor arrangements, and the printed part number does not always identify which. Six items produce a same-day quote:
