Elemento filtrante de condensado de proceso
Condensate carries iron. Never much of it by concentration, but continuously, and as a corrosion product that behaves nothing like ordinary particulate. It is soft, it deforms through a pleat under differential pressure, and it will blind a surface-loading element while the media behind the face is still clean.
A wound element handles it by having no face to blind. The winding builds a genuine depth structure, coarse on the outside and progressively tighter toward the core, so crud is captured throughout the thickness. This is why condensate polishing remains one of the few duties where wound construction is still specified over pleated, and why the PHFX is built that way.

- Condensate polishing: iron oxide and crud removal on the polishing loop.
- Power plant: feedwater and condensate service.
- Pre-coat replacement: where a wound element takes over from powdered resin.
- Ion exchange protection: high-load prefiltration ahead of the beds.
Three media, and the choice is usually settled by what the plant cannot tolerate rather than by capacity.

Grades run 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 µm. On iron removal the finer grades earn their keep; above 20 µm the element is doing bulk protection rather than polishing.
Condensate polishing vessels are rarely standard. Most were built around whichever element was available when the plant was commissioned, and that decision is now thirty years old.
The PHFX is offered at 50 mm and 60 mm outside diameter, in 60" and 70" lengths, with core and end fittings covering G1", M33×1.5, M33×2, 13/16"-24 BSW, and M6, M8 or M10 studs. That range exists precisely because the vessels do not agree with each other.
