New Energy and Lithium Battery Filtration
Pullner makes filter elements for lithium battery production lines, mainly for electrode slurry and coating liquids. In a battery plant, filters sit between slurry mixing and the coating head. Their job is to catch agglomerates, gel particles and stray metal before they reach the electrode, because a defect in the coated foil usually means that section of the roll is scrapped.
Whether you are setting up a new line or fixing coating defects, we make polypropylene capsule filters and multi-layer cartridges for slurry, and pleated cartridges for coating liquids, in our ISO 9001-certified factory in Shanghai. Already using another brand? Send your current part number and we will check the fit and send samples to test on your own line.
Operating Conditions in the Lithium Battery Manufacturing Process
Battery slurry and coating liquids are much harder to filter than water, and most problems come back to viscosity, solids and solvent.
Electrode slurry is thick because it carries binder and solvent. A cartridge that handles water easily can clog quickly on slurry, and the pressure drop across it can climb fast enough to starve the coating head.
Some of the solids are meant to stay in. The active material and conductive additive have to pass through the filter, and only the agglomerates and metal particles should be stopped. Go too fine and you strip out material you need. Go too coarse and the defects get through.
The solvents used in slurry and coating will attack some filter media, so compatibility has to be checked before the micron rating. That is why polypropylene is the usual choice for these liquids.
Filters are normally placed after slurry mixing, before the coating head, and on the coating liquid supply. Each point needs a different element, so tell us where the filter will sit when you ask for a recommendation.
Selection Parameters for a Lithium Battery Slurry Filter
Two plants can run the same chemistry and still need different filters, because solids content, flow rate and temperature all change the result. The table below lists what we ask for before we recommend an element, and why each one matters. The same points apply to coating liquids. Send these details with your inquiry and our engineers will come back with a filter type, a capsule or housing size, and an expected changeout interval.
| What we ask for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Viscosity | Decides whether the liquid will pass through the element, and how quickly pressure builds up |
| Solids content | Decides how much the element can hold before it needs changing |
| Target particle size | Sets the filter grade, and whether you need a nominal or an absolute rating |
| Fluid and binder chemistry | Rules out media that the solvent would attack |
| Temperature | Polypropylene is rated to 80°C. Above that you need a high-temperature element |
| Flow rate | Sets how many elements you need and how large the capsule or housing must be |
| Allowable pressure drop | Sets the point at which the element should be changed |
| Maintenance cycle | Helps balance element life against cost. A cheaper element that needs changing twice as often can cost more over a year |
Why Choose Pullner as Your Lithium Battery Filter Cartridge Manufacturer
More than just a supplier – we’re your technical partner in filtration solutions
Second-Source and Replacement Fit Check
Send us the part number of the filter you use now. We compare its dimensions, connections, media, temperature and pressure rating with your process before we quote. If it matches, we send samples so you can run them on your own line before you switch.
Engineering Support, Not a Catalog
Our lab runs PMI pore size analysis, SEM and ICP-MS in house. Filtration testing and custom design are free, and we can send up to two free samples before you order (you cover shipping). The more operating data you share, the closer the first sample will be to what you need.
Manufacturing Scale and Lead Time
We run more than 30 production lines and make over 4,000 filter elements a day at our ISO 9001-certified, 15,200 m² factory in Shanghai. We mould our own polypropylene capsule shells in house and 3D-print prototypes for non-standard end caps and frames. Standard lead time is 7 to 15 working days depending on the series, plus shipping.
Your Trusted Filtration Partner

We ordered electronics grade filters for a small run and the parts we received matched the specifications well. Communication on their end was straightforward, and delivery timing was reasonable. Overall, the process was smooth enough for our needs.
Lithium Battery Manufacturing Filtration FAQs
In most cases, yes. Pullner’s PHC multi-layer cartridge comes in 10, 20, 30 and 40 inch lengths, which fit standard housings. For a skid or a test loop, our PRI and PRS capsule filters (77 mm and 250 mm outside diameter) are self-contained and need no housing. Send your housing model or current part number and we will confirm the end cap and seal before quoting.
Yes. Pullner offers free filtration testing and custom design, and sends up to two free samples before you place an order (you cover shipping). A trial on your own slurry gives a far more reliable answer than a spec sheet, so include the slurry viscosity, solids content and target particle size with your request, and tell us where the filter will sit in the line.
It depends mostly on the solids content of your slurry, so track pressure drop rather than hours in service. Pullner’s PHC multi-layer cartridge is rated to a maximum differential pressure of 0.3 MPa, and we size the filter area so changeouts fall on planned stops instead of mid-run. For thick binders, our high viscosity filter element is sized on surface area, which slows the pressure rise. Send your solids content and allowable pressure drop for an interval estimate.
