New Energy and Lithium Battery Filtration
Lithium battery production is judged on yield, and yield is decided by what reaches the electrode. Impurities carried in a process fluid end up in the coating, and a defect in the coated web is scrap rather than rework. Filtration is how the process fluid is kept to specification, batch after batch. Pullner supplies the elements that do that, to cell plants, cathode and anode material producers, coating line builders and battery equipment OEMs, usually as a second source into a line that is already running.
Typical Operating Conditions
Battery process fluids are unlike the water and process streams most filtration is built for. Three
conditions decide everything about the element.
Viscosity is high. Cathode and anode slurry carries binder and solvent, which means an element that
passes water comfortably may not pass slurry at all, or will build differential pressure fast enough
to starve the coating head.
Solids loading is high. Active material and conductive additive are meant to pass through; the
agglomerates and stray metal are not. The element has to separate those two, which is a harder job
than simple particle removal.
Chemistry is aggressive. Solvent systems rule out media on compatibility before micron rating is
even considered, which is why polypropylene is the standard choice here.
Filtration appears at several points in the line: cathode and anode slurry preparation, coating,
calendaring, slitting, and drying and baking. The duty changes at each, and so does the element.
Selection Parameters
Slurry duty is set by the formulation, not by the process step. Two plants running the same chemistry at different solids loading need different elements, so we specify against your numbers. Send these and we will come back with a format, a housing and a changeout interval.

The multi-layer cartridge is rated to 0.3 MPa, and the working approach is to size the filtration area so the changeout lands on a planned stop rather than mid-run.
